Damp Detection & Mould Surveys
We help you take care of your property with expert damp and mould surveys, ventilation tests, and insulation improvements.
We take a building pathology approach to your whole property to identify the real causes of damp and mould. For hidden mould, this can include air sampling and swab testing.
We can inspect subfloors, lofts and voids if required to ensure they are ventilated correctly and there is no unwanted moisture build-up or pathways.
Mould Removal & Damp Prevention
We aim to find the actual source of your damp. Rising damp is relatively uncommon and can be misdiagnosed when a full building-pathology assessment has not been undertaken. Penetrating damp, bridging damp, wicking, condensation and humidity are often the issue.
We can offer numerous solutions to your damp and explain the advantages and disadvantages of each approach. All mould is physically removed in accordance with applicable IICRC standards and guidance. No harmful chemicals are used directly on mould and advice is given as to how to prevent it from returning.

Cannot recommend Carl enough. After spending a lot of money with two other companies who carried out their own “surveys” trying to identify the source of the water ingress that was causing mould in our house, Carl arrived and found the problem in under an hour. He provided us with a detailed scope of works explaining exactly what needs to be done to resolve the issue, as well as preventative measures to help stop it happening again. He also gave us different pricing options to suit our budget and what we actually needed, with absolutely no sales pressure. Carl’s knowledge, advice and experience are second to none. After the time and money we had already spent trying to get to the bottom of the problem, we only wish we had found him sooner. Cannot recommend him highly enough.
We approached SMS initially for a mould survey as our daughter was suffering from mould-related illness and we wanted to find out if this was related to mould in our house. The survey indicated that we likely had hidden mould in our loft. SMS recommended a company who could help us with testing and the considerable investigation and remediation required. We discovered extensive mould all over the loft, hidden behind the plasterboard with no smell at all. This was caused by poorly installed insulation many years ago. We were supported compassionately by Carl throughout the process and he visited the site several times during the remediation out of his own volition. He has always responded promptly to messages and calls and is clearly extremely knowledgeable and passionate about eradicating mould in a safe way and helping his clients live in a health-promoting environment. Following remediation, Carl, Stuart and their team installed new vents in both bathrooms and refitted insulation in the loft. They also remediated a cupboard that contained historic damp and mould using airscrubbers and Hepa vacuums. The whole team have been friendly and courteous and I am happy to recommend the company to others looking for mould and damp surveys, as well as ventilation upgrades and insulation installation.
